BSN CURRICULUM PHILOSOPHY
Nursing is considered as a very important component of our country’s health care system and therefore, is responsive to the needs of the society. The De Los Santos-STI College of Nursing is offering this 4 year course aimed to fully prepare its students to become nurses who are scientifically informed, socially aware, technically competent and committed to the service of humanity. It provides nursing care to individuals, families and communities in various stages of growth and development.
Generally, a graduate of De Los Santos-STI College of Nursing is expected to have:
1.Developed sensitive awareness to the health needs of society as well as commitment to the alleviation of problems arising there from.
2.Acquire the necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes for the promotion of health alleviation of sufferings.
3.Developed a research attitude through the use of the nursing process, which will lead them to the utilization of research findings.
4.Assume leadership roles and responsibilities in various settings of nursing practice.
Specifically, he/she is expected to:
1.Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively with members of the health team and allied professions in the care of individuals, families and communities.
2.Utilize results of research studies related to nursing;
3.Perform nursing care activities guided by the code of ethics of the nursing profession;
4.Possess necessary attitudes for his/her own personal and professional growth;
5.Adapt to current trends, technologies and to the changing needs of the society;
6.Value health care as a basic responsibility and means of serving God and humanity.
GOAL
It is the goal of De Los Santos-STI to become a prime institution in nursing education that will serve as an instrument to achieve quality, proficiency, and high quality learning thorough well-rounded academic nursing program.
